First Prenatal Appt.

Today, was my first Prenatal appt. We are 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant and we met with my Dr.'s nurse, Shelly. We got to meet with the business office and that overwhelming start of reality of how much your baby will cost even before he or she is born. The more fun part was we had to do the family health history questionaire. And it was determined that I was the healthier one and James (Shelly kept calling him Jim - which he has never answered to.) was stacking up bad health cards. He has type 2 Diabetes, which he has under great control. He also has high blood pressure and a hypo-thyroid that he also takes medications for. Shelly said "You aren't starting out so good, Daddy."

James and I were also told we were the first "normal" couple that the doctor has had in a while. She futher explained we were the oldest as well. Their recent patients consisted of mainly 13-15 year olds. Which just shocked me! Shelly had warned us there was going to be a lot of silly questions, but that it is required due to past patients. Shelly was shocked a little that I had already been experiencing "morning sickness" when I was only 6 weeks. She said usually it doesn't start until 8 weeks. So I am hoping my good track record with Juice Plus+ holds out and it doesn't get worse.

We got some fun stuff as new expectant parents: a cool diaper bag with two books, magazines, and a bunch of pregnancy information of course. They even threw in formula, a couple of tiny bottles, and two newborn diapers.

My next Prenatal appt is going to be Nov. 5th. We will get our first ultrasound then. That will be exciting! Hopefully I can figure this blog out more by then to post the picture on here. Feel free to give me any tips, from you professional bloggers. Until next post, baby bean will be growing and changing like crazy. I am just amazed at how God has been blessing people with this miracle for thousands of years and it is still totally a unique experience to every expectant mother.

Reading what you're going through reminded me of the thrill (and the not-so-fun parts) of my first pregnancy. Hang in there! I'm glad you found something that helps so far.
